Shizumi begins with a single idea: paper, pleated and stacked, can hold light the way a lantern holds a flame. Each drum-shaped module is hand-finished in ribbed cotton paper, then joined end to end into a single suspended column. The result reads less like a lamp and more like a sculptural gesture — quiet, vertical, unmistakably considered.
Modules that build height with intention
Rather than one fixed silhouette, Shizumi is built from repeating drum modules that stack to create three distinct proportions. A shorter run suits a bedside or reading nook; the tallest version becomes a statement for stairwells, double-height entries, or a cluster of fixtures hung at staggered lengths above a table. However many modules you choose, the ribbed texture and soft ivory tone stay consistent from top to bottom.
Light that glows through, never glares
The pleated paper diffuses every watt into a warm, even wash — no visible bulb, no harsh point of light, just a gentle column of glow that reads beautifully after dark, whether in a living room, a dining alcove, or a shop window. By day, the fixture holds its own as pure sculptural form.
Choose your temperature, or let it shift
Shizumi is available with a fixed warm white, cool white, or neutral white light source, or as a tri-color adjustable version that lets you shift the mood from warm to cool without changing the fixture. Either way, the paper shade softens the output into the same signature glow.
Effortless to hang, built to last
Each pendant suspends from a single adjustable cord and ceiling canopy, with a discreet touch on/off switch built into the fitting. The paper body is designed for indoor use and, like all natural materials, will develop a gentle patina with time — part of its handcrafted character rather than a flaw.
