Alabaster, cut into discs and stacked — the wall sconce as geological artifact.

Levorn presents two tall columns of alabaster, each column formed from many horizontal discs of the stone — sliced thin so the light passes through them — mounted on a dark brass U-shaped bracket. Alabaster has been used in lamp-making for centuries precisely because of the quality of light it produces: never harsh, never flat, always warm and slightly complex, as if the stone itself were participating in the illumination. The stacked disc form adds a rhythmic quality to the surface, as if the stone were made of layers deposited over time.
