The Brimwell distils industrial wall-sconce design to its most satisfying essentials: a wide-brimmed cone shade in matte black or white, a machined antique brass socket with knurled grip ring, and a solid brass arm terminating in a matte iron wall plate. Together, these components compose a fixture that feels simultaneously workshop-spare and deliberately crafted — at home against exposed brick, smooth plaster, and painted timber alike.

Antique Brass: The Detail That Earns Its Place

The Brimwell's brass components are not decorative concessions — they are load-bearing elements of the design. The arm is solid brass rod, aged to a warm antique finish. The E27 socket holder is machined with a knurled ring grip, its patinated surface a deliberate echo of early 20th-century factory fittings. A brass thumb-screw at the joint allows the shade angle to be locked precisely after installation, enabling you to direct the light exactly where it is needed. At 220 mm across, the Brimwell's cone shade casts a focused pool of downward light ideal for reading corners, bedside tables, and kitchen work surfaces. The matte interior surface maximises light output from a single bulb; the matte exterior avoids the fingerprint-visibility of gloss finishes. Installation & Bulb Guidance

The Brimwell mounts directly to a standard wall junction box with the included hardware. The pivot joint between arm and socket allows the shade to be angled up to 45° from horizontal, making height adjustment easy after installation. The E27 socket accommodates any filament LED up to 40 W. For an authentic period effect, a 4 W vintage filament LED at 2200 K produces a warm amber glow visible through the open bottom of the shade; for cleaner task lighting, a 7 W frosted LED at 2700 K is recommended. IP20 rated, suitable for dry indoor use only.

Black or White: Two Distinct Personalities

The Black Brimwell is the bolder choice — its dark cone shade makes the exposed Edison filament appear to glow with greater intensity, and the fixture reads as a deliberate editorial accent on light-coloured walls. Against dark-painted walls or exposed brick, it disappears into its environment, leaving only the light. The White Brimwell softens the same silhouette, making it versatile for more neutral interiors — Scandinavian, coastal, or contemporary spaces where the brass hardware provides the warmth.

The Brimwell excels as a bedside reading light — its adjustable arm directs the beam precisely over a book without disturbing a sleeping partner.
