The Aulon is a wall sconce built from two of the most considered materials in contemporary design: travertine marble and solid walnut. The travertine diffuses light downward through a small aperture at its base, casting a warm pool on whatever surface lies below. The walnut bracket anchors it to the wall — warm-grained, honest, architectural. Together, they form an object that reads as serious design, not decorative accent.

Travertine: a stone with a history

Travertine — the same sedimentary limestone used in Roman architecture and the Getty Center — is chosen here for its texture. Its subtle horizontal strata, its porous surface, its warm cream tone: no two pieces are identical. The Aulon acknowledges this by treating each sconce as a unique object, its character determined by the particular slice of stone from which it was cut.

Two forms: Aulon and Round

The Aulon version is architectural — its precise right angles contrast with the travertine's organic surface, creating a tension that feels designed. The Round version is softer, more elemental — a cylinder of stone, as if pulled from the earth and mounted directly on the wall. Both measure 16cm tall and 6.5cm deep: compact, contained, assured.

GU10 LED: directional warmth

A GU10 LED bulb (warm white recommended) sits at the base of the stone body, directing light downward. The beam creates a dramatic wash on the wall below — perfect for bedside use as a reading light, or as accent illumination in a hallway, above a console table, or beside a mirror. The travertine does not diffuse the beam; it frames it.

The walnut bracket: structure as ornament

The solid walnut mounting bracket is not a hidden component — it is displayed. Its natural grain visible, its proportions honest, it anchors the stone body while adding a second material register to the composition. Walnut's warm, medium-toned grain pairs naturally with travertine's cream and sand: a palette that appears throughout luxury interior design.

For bedrooms, hallways, and bathrooms

The Aulon is sized for intimate spaces. Pair two beside a bed for symmetrical bedside lighting. Mount one above a console in a hallway for a directional accent.
