Colivex is not a dome, not a bowl — it is a woven wave, twisted mid-motion and frozen in bamboo. The shade rises from a slender wooden neck and unfurls asymmetrically, one edge dipping low, the other lifting into a soft, upturned curl. Hung alone above a table or clustered in threes down a stairwell, it reads less as a fixture and more as a piece of kinetic sculpture that happens to give light.
Hand-woven bamboo, strand by strand
Each shade is woven entirely by hand from natural bamboo splints, radiating outward from the crown in a fine basketweave that catches and scatters light across its own curved surface. The weave is treated to resist moisture and moths, so the material ages gracefully rather than degrading — developing a deeper, honeyed patina the longer it hangs. Offered in six proportions, from an intimate 30cm to a commanding 80cm, the asymmetric wave form holds its character at every scale.
Light that spills through the weave
Switched on, the bamboo becomes translucent at its edges and warmly opaque at its crown, casting a soft pool of light downward while intricate basketweave shadows climb the surrounding walls and ceiling. By day, unlit, it stands as quiet sculptural presence — a study in natural geometry that needs no illumination to hold a room's attention.
