A Silhouette Borrowed from Flight
Some fixtures light a room. This one choreographs it. Two overlapping discs of hand-radiated fibre tilt against each other like a pair of wings caught mid-motion, casting a silhouette that reads as sculpture long before it reads as lamp. Mtavion belongs to a small family of pieces that don't compete for attention—they simply hold it, quietly, from above.
Woven by Hand, Rope by Rope
Each shade begins as raw natural rope, hand-wound in tight radial rows around a slender frame until the fibre fans outward into two generous, gently curved discs. The construction is entirely handwork—no two units cast quite the same shadow—and the warm, earthen tone of the rope deepens the longer it catches ambient light. It's a texture that feels at home in spaces built around natural materials: linen, limewash, raw oak, stone.
Light That Filters, Not Floods
A single exposed bulb sits low between the two tiers, its glow passing through the open weave before it ever reaches a surface. The effect is soft and fractured rather than direct—by day the empty spaces in the weave draw shifting patterns across ceilings and walls, and by night the fixture becomes a warm, glowing form in its own right. Choose from four light temperatures—Warm White, Neutral White, Cool White, or RGB Multicolor—to match the bulb to the mood of the room (bulb sold separately, standard E27 socket).
Five Sizes, One Statement
Mtavion scales from an intimate 40 cm—suited to a reading corner or bedside—up to a commanding 100 cm centrepiece built for double-height dining rooms, hotel lobbies, and restaurant bars. Every size keeps the same proportions and the same handwoven detail; only the scale of the gesture changes.
Ready for Everyday Living
The fixture ships ready for straightforward ceiling installation, with an in-line push-button switch on the cord and a compact canopy for a clean finish at the ceiling. It runs on a universal 90–260V circuit, so it travels well between homes and countries. This is a light built to be lived under for years, not just photographed once.
