DESCRIPTION
A Curtain of Light
Ambrivox is built from hundreds of individual threads, hung in a dense cylindrical curtain around a nickel-finished reflector bowl. Rather than a solid shade, the fringe lets light escape in soft, moving slivers — brighter at the seams, warmer through the threads — giving the piece a texture no smooth glass or fabric drum can match. Parted by hand, the fringe reveals the bulb within; released, it falls back into place like a curtain settling.
Two Scales, One Silhouette
The same tapered cylinder comes in two sizes built for different roles. The compact profile sits comfortably on a console, sideboard or nightstand, while the larger version reads as a genuine floor-set piece — substantial enough to anchor a reading corner or flank a sofa. Both share the identical fringe, taper and nickel rim, so the choice is really one of scale, not style.
A Reflector Bowl, Not Just a Socket
Inside the open top sits a polished nickel bowl that catches and redirects the bulb's glow back down through the fringe, softening what would otherwise be a single bright point into an even wash of light across the threads. It is a small detail, but it is the difference between a lamp that glows and one that simply shines.
Light, Tuned to the Room
Ambrivox ships with its LED bulb included, available as a fixed warm white, neutral white or cool white — or as a 3-step tunable bulb that shifts between all three with a press of the built-in switch. There is no dial to fade brightness, only the choice of a colour temperature that suits the room it lands in, from an amber-lit reading nook to a crisper, daylight-leaning entryway.
Beyond the Floor
On its larger size, the flat nickel rim doubles as an occasional tabletop — enough for a glass, a candle or a small plant — turning the lamp into a lit side table as much as a light source. It is a detail that rewards pieces placed directly beside a sofa or an armchair, where a lamp and a surface are both welcome and floor space is not.
Built to Stand
A weighted metal base keeps the silhouette stable underfoot, and the fringe itself is dense enough to hold its shape and its drape over years of use. Ambrivox is a plug-in, freestanding piece — no wiring, no electrician, just a socket and a spot on the floor or a tabletop it can call its own.
